Etymology
Probably derived via metathesis of Prakrit 𑀉𑀡𑁆𑀳𑀅 (uṇhaa), Sanskrit उष्णक (uṣṇaka), derived from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hušnás, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁us-nós (“hot”). Cognate with Marathi ऊन (ūn) and Gujarati ઊનું (ūnũ), both of which did not undergo the same metathesis.
