Etymology

Derived from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀘𑀫𑁆𑀫 (camma) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀟- (-ḍa-) + -𑀓- (-ka-),^[1] from Sanskrit चर्मन् (cárman), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *čárma, from Proto-Indo-European *(s)kérmn̥ (“skin, hide, pelt”).
