Etymology

    Inherited from Proto-Indo-Aryan *taṭṣ-, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *taćš-, from Proto-Indo-European *tetḱ- (to hew, create).[1] Cognate with Latin texō (to weave) (whence English text, textile), Ancient Greek τέχνη (tékhnē) (whence English techno-), and Serbo-Croatian те̏сла (tesla, adze). See also तक्षन् (takṣan, carpenter).
