Derived from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀢𑀺𑀭𑀺𑀘𑁆𑀙 (tiriccha) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit तिरश्च (tiraścá, “*slanting, crosswise”), from तिरश्चा (tiraścā, “crosswise, through”).
