Etymology
Borrowed from English bottle + -ई (-ī), from Anglo-Norman and Old French boteille, from Vulgar Latin *botticula, ultimately of disputed origin. Probably a diminutive of Late Latin buttis. Compare Gujarati બાટલી (bāṭlī), Hindi बोतल (botal), Punjabi ਬੋਤਲ (botal) / بوتل (botl), Nepali बोतल (botal), Bengali বোতল (bōtol), Assamese বটল (botol).
