Borrowed from Classical Persian مَنزِل (manzil), from Arabic مَنْزِل (manzil, “house, dwelling”). First attested in c. 1421 as Old Hindi مَنْزِل (mnzl, “abode”). Cognate with Marathi मजला (majlā), Bengali মঞ্জিল (monjil).
