Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Indo-Aryan *ṣwuṣṭʰás, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *š(w)uštʰás, from Proto-Indo-European *suḱs-th₂ó-s (“sixth”). Cognate with Pali chaṭṭha, Avestan 𐬑𐬱𐬙𐬎𐬎𐬀 (xštuua, “sixth”), Latin sextus, Ancient Greek ἕκτος (héktos).
