Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘭𑘰𑘽𑘥𑘰𑘩𑘜𑘹 (sāṃbhālaṇe), 𑘭𑘰𑘽𑘥𑘰𑘯𑘜𑘹 (sāṃbhāḷaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀲𑀁𑀪𑀸𑀭𑁂𑀇 (saṃbhārei), 𑀲𑀁𑀪𑀸𑀮𑀺𑀅 (saṃbhālia, past participle), from Sanskrit संभारयति (saṃbhārayati). Cognate with Gujarati સંભાળવું (sambhāḷvũ), Hindustani سَنْبَھالْنَا (sanbhālnā) / संभालना (sambhālnā), Punjabi ਸੰਭਾਲਣਾ (sambhālṇā) / سَنبھالݨا (sanbhālṇā).
