Borrowed from Classical Persian حِنَا (hinā), a variant of حِنَّا (hinnā), حِنَّاء (hinnā'), from Arabic حِنَّاء (ḥinnāʔ). Cognate with English henna, Spanish alheña, Punjabi ਹਿਨਾ (hinā), and Bengali হেনা (hena).
