Inherited from Middle Gujarati अहीअं (c. 1471),[1] from Prakrit 𑀇𑀥 (idha), 𑀇𑀳 (iha), from Ashokan Prakrit 𑀇𑀥 (idha) (compare Sanskrit ઇહ (ihá)). Cognate with Hindi यहाँ (yahā̃), Old Awadhi इहाँ (ihām̐).
