• In modern usage, the present term only refers to tertiary education students. Early childhood, primary, or secondary education students are called นักเรียน (nák-riian).
• Tertiary education students at some universities, such as Chulalongkorn University and Kasetsart University, are called นิสิต (ní-sìt).
