Cognate with Isan บก, Lao ບົກ (bok), Northern Thai ᨷᩫ᩠ᨠ (bok¹), Khün ᨷᩫ᩠ᨠ (bok⁴), ᦷᦢᧅ (ḃok), Tai Dam ꪶꪚꪀ (bốc), Shan မူၵ်း (múuk, to diminish), Tày bốc, Zhuang mbuk (to dry up) (dialectal) and mboek (land; to decline (water level)) (dialectal).
