Cognate with Northern Thai ᩃᩣ᩠ᨿ, Lao ລາຍ (lāi), ᦟᦻ (laay), Tai Dam ꪩꪱꪥ, Shan လၢႆး (láai), Tai Nüa ᥘᥣᥭᥰ (läay), Phake လႝ (lay), Ahom 𑜎𑜩 (lay), Zhuang raiz (pattern; pockmark) and laiz (ditto) (dialectal).
