ကစား
Burmese
Etymology
MED treats the term as an atomic unit, and STEDT gives no etymology (kacā: "play (a game)"). Luce suggests a connection to Old Chinese 戲 (OC *qʰral, *qʰrals, *qʰaː, “to play, tease”),[1] which seems highly speculative and not particularly likely based on phonetics. Alternatively, the first syllable appears to be က (ka., “to dance”), while the second syllable may be စား (ca:) in the sense of "to match", or perhaps in the sense of "to exceed; emphatic particle".
