Etymology 1
From Proto-Lolo-Burmese *glak (“to boil”), from Proto-Tibeto-Burman *s-(k/g)lak (“to cook, boil; cooked”). Cognate with Mizo tlak (“to boil or cook without salt”), Akha [script needed] (tjàq, “to boil, cook”) (STEDT).
