Learned borrowing from Pali khaṇa, from Sanskrit क्षण (kṣaṇa). Cognate with Mon ခၞ, Khmer ខណៈ (khaʼnaʼ), Thai ขณะ (kà-nà), Lao ຂະນະ (kha na).
