Etymology
Treated as an atomic non-decomposable unit by MED, and apparently not mentioned by STEDT or Luce 1981. That said, appears to be a compound of စု (cu., “to accumulate”) + လျား (lya:, “to extend”), i.e. an extended and collected piece of cloth.
