တံငါ
Burmese
Etymology
MED derives the word from တံ (tam, “liquid”) + ငါ (nga, “I, me”), apparently as "the one in the water", though this seems semantically tenuous. It appears more likely that the first component invokes the "rod" sense, and the second component is a variant of ငါး (nga:, “fish”).
