Etymology
နေ (ne, “sun”) + ထွက် (htwak, “to come out”). Chinese 日出 (rìchū, “sunrise”) is an exact cognate by components (though whether both terms were inherited from Proto-Sino-Tibetan or formed independently from their respective cognate roots is unknown).
