ပုစဉ်း
Burmese
Etymology
From a syllable ပု (pu.) which may be a shortened form of ပိုး (pui:, “worm, insect”) + a syllable စဉ်း (cany:) of uncertain further origin, not given etymology by STEDT (pu⁵³ sĩ⁵⁵ "dragonfly") or mentioned by Luce 1981. That said, note similarities to both syllables of Old Chinese 蜻蜓 (OC *ʔsleŋ/sʰleːŋ l'eːnʔ/l'eːŋ/l'eːŋʔ, “dragonfly”).
