ဖုန်
Burmese
Etymology
Borrowed from Middle Chinese 粉 (MC pjunX, “powder, flour”). Cognate with Thai ฝุ่น (fùn), Lao ຝຸ່ນ (fun), Tai Dam ꪄꪴ꪿ꪙ, Shan ၽုၼ်ႇ (phùn). (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
The adjectival senses are grouped with the "dust" sense by MED, though it is unclear whether they are indeed etymologically related. Neither STEDT nor Luce 1981 appear to mention them.
