1. The 11th letter and third consonant of the Tai Tham Pali alphabet. In Pali it represents the voiced unaspirated velar consonant /g/.

   • Northern Thai ᩈ᩠ᩅᩢᩁ᩠ᨣ᩺ (sa-wǎn, “heaven”)

In the modern vernacular languages, Northern Thai, Tai Lü and Tai Khün, this letter generally represents the voiceless velar consonant /k/. For these languages, the graphic contrast between ᨠ and ᨣ represents a distinction of tone.

In Lao, this letter represents the aspirated voiceless velar consonant /kʰ‌/. For these languages, the graphic contrast between ᨡ and ᨣ represents a distinction of tone.
