ᩃ (la)
- The 36th letter and 28th consonant of the Tai Tham Pali alphabet. In Pali it represents the dental lateral approximant consonant /l/.
- Pali ᩃᩈᩥᨠᩣ (lasikā, “synovial fluid”)
- Northern Thai ᩃᩣ (laa, “donkey”)
- Northern Thai ᨲᩣ᩠ᩃ (dtaan, “palmyra”)
- Lü ᩃᩣ (laa, “donkey”)
Usage notes
The subscript form mostly used for consonant clusters, especially in Pali, is the character separately encoded as ᩖ. For the final consonant of a syllable, the subscript form overwhelmingly used is the one formally associated with the Unicode character ᩃ, as in ᨲᩣ᩠ᩃ. As a final consonant in the vernaculars, its usage is etymological and it represents /n/.
