Etymology 2
From *ἔν(σ)-τε (*én(s)-te), from Proto-Indo-European *h₁én. The origin of the final element, -τε (-te), is unclear. It may derive from τε (te) or directly from Proto-Indo-European *-kʷe. This Proto-Indo-European morpheme surfaces in Latin dōnec.
