Etymology
The comparative form of an unattested adjective, with the superlative of ὕστᾰτος (hústătos), from Proto-Indo-European *údteros (“higher, outer”) from *úd (“upwards, away”), which would make it cognate with English out, Sanskrit उत्तर (úttara, “upper, higher”).[1]
