Etymology

Originates from 錦衣衛 / 锦衣卫 (Jǐnyīwèi, “Embroidered Uniform Guard”), with one character, "衣", which is the homophone of one of the characters of 洛天依 (“Luo Tianyi”), "依", changed to "依".

Luo Tianyi is a Chinese virtual singer, and her fans are called literally alike to the Chinese of Embroidered Uniform Guard because it is considered that they play the same role as Embroidered Uniform Guard - guarding.
