Etymology
First recorded in 조선어사전 (Joseon-eo Sajeon, “Korean Language Dictionary”), published at 1938. According to some folk etymology, from English no touch. The Korea University dictionary assumes that it is compound of 노두 (露頭, nodu, “outcrop”) + 지 (地, ji, “land”)
