Etymology
First attested in the Neung'eomgyeong eonhae (楞嚴經諺解 / 능엄경언해), 1461, as Middle Korean 드듸여 (Yale: tutuyye). From 드듸- (tutuy-, “to step”) + -어 (-e, infinitive suffix). Also see Idu form 導良 (TUTUY-e).
