Nativisation of the Sino-Korean term 우인 (愚人, u'in, “foolish person”) + 이 (-i, noun suffix), with nominal suffix -이 (-i) attached.

  • Phonetic hangul: [웨(ː)니]
    • Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
