First attested in writing in Middle Indo-Aryan as the more derived Ashokan Prakrit 𑀅𑀨𑁂 (aphe), it is shared with Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀅𑀫𑁆𑀳𑁂 (amhe), Maharastri Prakrit 𑀅𑀫𑁆𑀳𑁂 (amhe) and Pali amhe.
