Glyph origin
Naming taboo (避諱 / 避讳); the last dot in 玄 (xuán) was omitted to avoid using the same character in the Kangxi Emperor's personal name, which was 玄燁 / 玄烨.
This was also applied to derived characters; characters like 弦 and 畜 were also missing the last dot in 玄 (xuán) during this time.
This also produced 𤍞 (yè) < 燁 / 烨 (yè).
