Etymology 1

From Proto-Turkic *biŕ, which was a postposition. The b changed to m by analogue with first person possessive ending -іміз (-ımız). Cognate with Kyrgyz -биз (-biz), Southern Altai -бис (-bis), Turkish -iz.
