  1. verbal noun suffix: appended to stems of verbs to form the verbal noun, akin to the gerund in English
    хо́дя (hódja) + ‎-не (-ne) → ‎хо́дене (hódene)
    ям (jam) + ‎-не (-ne) → ‎я́дене (jádene)
    адмири́рам (admiríram) + ‎-не (-ne) → ‎адмири́ране (admirírane)

Usage notes

  • Only used on imperfective verbs; perfective verbs have no verbal nouns.
  • The plural is virtually always -ния (-nija), but can sometimes be -нета (-neta) for some verbs, in which case taking on a colloquial tone.
