From Proto-Turkic *-l. Cognate with Turkish -il, Southern Altai -ил (-il).

Suffix

-іл • (-ıl)

  1. Forms passive voice.
    беру (beru, give) + ‎-іл (-ıl) → ‎берілу (berılu, to be given)
    Дүкен ашылды.
    Düken aşyldy.
    The store was opened.
Usage notes

This suffix has special endings -ын/-ін/-н, when the root already has the "л" sound in it.

  • ал- (to take) + -ын = алыну (to be taken)
