From -습- (-seup-, humble suffix) + Middle Korean -더〮ᅌᅵ다〮 (-téngìtá).

A more polite version of -데 (-de). Compare the pairs -습니다 (-seumnida) - -네 (-ne), -읍시다 (-eupsida) - -세 (-se).
