Aerdenhout
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as Aerden-hout in 1517-1524. Compound of an unclear first element and hout (“rising deciduous forest”). A local etymology holds that the first element is derived from ander (“other”) (as opposed to Haarlemmerhout), but there are no old attestations which confirm this derivation.
