Appelscha
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as appels in 1247 and 1251. Borrowed from West Frisian Appelskea, potentially derived in turn from a compound of Old Frisian appel (“apple”) and *skea (“forest”); however, the oldest attestations do not support this etymology.
