From astro- (from Ancient Greek ἄστρον (ástron, “star”)) + Ancient Greek λῶμα (lôma, “fringe”). Coined by Scottish botanist (1773-1858), discoverer of the cell nucleus and of Brownian Motion Robert Brown in 1810.
