Etymology
From austro- (“south; southern”, in this case referring specifically to Australia, where they were found) + Ancient Greek γρᾰφή (grăphḗ, “painting, drawing”).
Coined by botanist Laurens Sparrius, by Australian lichenologist, chemist John Alan Elix, and by Australian lichenologist Alan William Archer in 2010.
