Etymology

ba (“three”) +‎ vì (“place, seat, throne”), the later element is now mostly used as a classifier. The name refers collectively to the three largest peaks of the mountain range: Vua Mountain, Tản Mountain and Ngọc Hoa Mountain.

This is the tên Nôm. The tên chữ is Tản Viên (傘圓).
