Barsum
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as Berswert in 1528. Borrowed from West Frisian Barsum, derived in turn from a compound of Old Frisian Beer (a personal name) and wert (“artificial mound used for habitation”). The second element was gradually replaced by hēm (“home, settlement”).
