Bréissel

Luxembourgish

Etymology

From Middle High German *Brüessele, from Middle Dutch Bruessele, of Germanic origin, composed from *brōk (marsh) + *sali (building, room).

The Luxembourgish -éi- continues the umlaut of Germanic -ō-, in line with the derivation from Proto-West Germanic *brōk (marsh).
