     In justice systems internationally, some countries do not accept references (including reverse reference and references to third countries) such as Quebec (Canada), Italy (before 31 May 1995), Northern Europe, Greece (1940 Civil Code), the Netherlands, Brazil (1942 Civil Code), Egypt (1948 Civil Code), Syria (1949 Civil Code), and so on. However, some other countries do accept references, such as France, Germany (1896 Civil Code), the United Kingdom, Belgium, Japan (1898 Civil Code), Sweden, and so on.
