Etymology

Sino-Vietnamese word from 麋 and 冷. Clearly an Old Chinese phonetic transcription of native etymon, the meaning however is now obscure. The toponym itself is said to be traceable all the way back to the mythical Hùng Vương era of the Red River Delta.
