Usage notes
- The use of this term is generally restricted to supporters of Argentina's position in the Falkland Islands sovereignty dispute or individuals discussing the islands from an Argentine perspective or context; residents of the islands often consider it offensive (compare Spanish Islas Falkland).
- Some academic or official literature uses constructions such as Falklands/Malvinas to avoid taking a position on the dispute.
