Unknown. It may be connected to Oscan ๐Œ–๐Œ“๐Œ–๐Œ…๐Œ‰๐Œ‰๐Œ” (uruviis) and Pre-Samnite ๐Œ–๐Œ“๐Œ–๐Œš๐Œ‰๐Œ„๐Œ‰๐Œ”, although the reading of the Pre-Samnite term is disputed and thus its potential etymology is uncertain.
