Etymology

From earlier *kule-w-, from Proto-Finno-Ugric *kule-. Cognates include Northern Khanty [script needed] (χŏᴧa-) and Northern Mansi [Term?] and Proto-Samic [Term?] (whence Northern Sami gollat).
