Etymology

Unknown root (shared with *pako) +‎ *-t'ak.

Holopainen & Junttila (2022) proposes that the original stem was *pakënë-, in turn deriving from Baltic (compare Lithuanian bõgi̇̀nti), more specifically from the present stem without any additional suffix.[1]
