Reconstruction:Proto-Finnic/repoi
Proto-Finnic
Etymology
From a root *repä + *-oi, from Proto-Finno-Permic *repä, borrowed from early Indo-Iranian (compare Proto-Indo-Iranian *HlawpaHćás, Sanskrit लोपि (lopi), Avestan 𐬭𐬀𐬊𐬞𐬌 (raopi)). Cognates include Erzya ривезь (riveź), Eastern Mari рывыж (ryvyž), Komi-Permyak руч (ruć) and Udmurt ӟичы (dźićy), which are all either from the same Finno-Permic root or parallel borrowings.
