Etymology

Probably borrowed from Proto-Germanic *wunskijaną. From the same source as Proto-Samic *oskōtēk. Alternatively related to Proto-Permic *ɛskini and Eastern Khanty [Term?], both from Proto-Finno-Ugric *iske, but the initial vowel is problematic.
